Wednesday, November 11, 2009 from 11:00 AM - 3:30 PM (CT)
Dear Afterschool partners and supporters:
Join the members of the Governor's Task Force on Best Practices for Afterschool and Summer Programs and the members of the Arkansas Out of School Network (AOSN) on Wednesday, November 11, 2009, (Veterans' Day) as we examine the progress made since the August 2008 release of the Governor's Task Force Recommendations. We have made significant progress in creating a common set of Afterschool best practice Standards, a Quality Rating Improvement System (QRIS), a common assessment tool, and addressing the professional development needs of afterschool professionals. We will also give you an overview of the newly released Arkansas data from the Afterschool Alliance's America After 3 p.m. Report that tells us how our kids are spending their out -of-school-time. We will also hear a report from the Arkansas Delegation to the National Council of State Legislators (NCSL) Youth Policy Summit held this past September in Nashville, Tennessee.
We will hold our meeting in Little Rock at the Little Rock Workforce Center (formerly Haverty's Furniture) located at 5401 South University Ave. Our meeting will begin at 11:00 a.m. with an optional tour of this 45,000 square foot state-of-the-art facility and a delicious lunch beginning at 11:30 a.m. Other Agenda items include:
